Drivers and homeowners are facing higher fuel costs this morning after the Public Utilities Board approved new price increases. Gasoline, diesel, furnace oil and stove oil have all gone up, making it more expensive to fill vehicles and heat homes.
Gas Prices Increase by 4.7 Cents Per Litre
The Public Utilities Board has raised the price of gasoline by 4.7 cents per litre. This means drivers will pay noticeably more at the pump compared with the previous pricing period.
Diesel Prices Also Move Higher
Diesel prices have also increased. On the island, diesel is up by 5.6 cents per litre. In Labrador West, diesel has risen by 3 cents per litre.
The increase may affect motorists, truck drivers, delivery operators and businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles.
Furnace Oil and Stove Oil Prices Rise
Heating fuel prices have also moved upward. Furnace oil has increased by 4.8 cents per litre, while stove oil has gone up by less than 2 cents per litre.
These changes may add extra pressure on households that depend on heating fuel.
Next Price Adjustment Coming Friday
Because of the holiday, the Public Utilities Board’s next scheduled pricing adjustment will take effect on Friday.
Fuel prices have climbed again, with gasoline rising by 4.7 cents per litre, diesel increasing by 5.6 cents on the island and 3 cents in Labrador West, and furnace oil going up by 4.8 cents.
Stove oil has also increased slightly, by less than 2 cents. With the next Public Utilities Board adjustment set for Friday due to the holiday, consumers may want to keep an eye on further changes.
