Doctors Unable to Remove Bullet After 11-Year-Old Girl Shot in Head

An 11-year-old girl remains in hospital after she and her father were shot while sitting in a vehicle outside a McDonald’s in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

The shooting happened on June 27, leaving Dora Belen Rivera critically injured and her father, Oscar Roman Miron, wounded in the leg.

Father and Daughter Shot in Parking Lot

Dora and her father were inside their vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot when gunfire struck the car.

Miron was with his three children while his wife had gone inside the restaurant to buy food.

According to a GoFundMe page created by Miron’s colleagues, the family had no connection to the dispute that led to the shooting.

Family Described as Innocent Bystanders

The fundraiser said an altercation suddenly broke out between other people in the parking lot before shots were fired.

Miron and his family were described as innocent bystanders.

The GoFundMe stated that Miron was shot in the leg, while Dora was shot in the head.

His two other children were not physically injured but witnessed the frightening incident.

Father Recovering at Home

Miron was taken to hospital after the shooting.

He was treated and later released.

According to the fundraiser, he is now continuing his recovery at home.

Dora Rivera Faces Long Recovery

Dora remains in hospital in stable condition.

She has undergone surgery, but the bullet remains in her head.

Doctors have told the family they are not removing the bullet at this time because doing so could cause more damage.

The fundraiser said Dora is receiving specialized medical treatment and faces a long recovery.

Police Say Shooting Began During Parking Lot Confrontation

New details reported by WTVJ say the shooting involved 18-year-old Ralph N-Kosi Blue, who was arriving at work at the McDonald’s.

Police said Blue fired at someone who was running toward him.

Surveillance video obtained by the outlet reportedly shows Blue walking through the parking lot while looking behind him.

Another male then gets out of a parked car and runs toward Blue.

Surveillance Video Shows Gunfire

The video reportedly shows Blue pulling out a gun and firing shots as the other person hides behind a car.

That person then runs away before Blue enters the restaurant.

The bullets struck Miron’s vehicle, injuring him and his daughter.

Suspect Facing Multiple Charges

Blue is facing two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

He is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

He is being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.
