Eligible Canadians receiving the Canada Disability Benefit may soon receive an additional payment.
The federal benefit, administered by Service Canada, will include a new $150 supplemental payment starting in September 2026.
Why the Extra Payment Is Being Added
The new supplemental amount is meant to help cover the cost of obtaining the Disability Tax Credit, which is required to qualify for the Canada Disability Benefit.
Because applicants must be approved for the Disability Tax Credit before receiving the benefit, the extra payment is designed to reduce that financial burden.
Payment Starts in September 2026
The supplemental payment will begin in September 2026.
The amount is fixed at $150 and will be paid as a lump sum to those who qualify.
Eligible individuals do not need to apply separately for this extra payment.

Who Can Receive the $150 Payment?
You may receive the supplemental amount for every approved Disability Tax Credit certificate that qualifies you for a monthly Canada Disability Benefit payment.
Some people may need to reapply for the Disability Tax Credit, while others may not.
If your Disability Tax Credit approval notice has no expiry date, you do not need to reapply unless the federal government asks you to.
If your approval notice has an expiry date, you must reapply when that period ends.
Previous Recipients May Still Qualify
People who received a Canada Disability Benefit payment before September 2026 may still be eligible for the supplemental payment, even if they are no longer receiving monthly payments.
This includes Canadians who received a one-time lump sum payment in July.
Monthly Canada Disability Benefit Amount
From July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum monthly Canada Disability Benefit amount is $204.20.
With the new $150 supplemental payment, some eligible recipients could receive more than $350 in a month when they need to apply for the Disability Tax Credit.
