Toronto Transit Operator Suffers ‘Violent Assault’ at Subway Station

Toronto Transit Commission operator is recovering at home after being violently assaulted at Wilson Station on Wednesday evening, according to TTC CEO Mandeep Lali.

The employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital following the incident.

Assault Happened at Wilson Station

In a statement posted on social media, Lali said the transit operator was attacked while at Wilson Station.

The operator was injured in the assault but is now out of hospital and recovering at home.

Lali said the thoughts of everyone at the TTC are with the employee and their family, and he wished the operator a full and speedy recovery.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Police were called after the assault.

According to Lali, the suspect was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

The Toronto police investigation remains ongoing.

TTC Condemns Violence Against Employees

Lali strongly condemned the attack, saying violence against TTC workers is unacceptable.

He said thousands of TTC employees serve Toronto residents every day with professionalism and dedication.

He added that those employees deserve to work in a safe environment.

Safety Remains a Priority

The TTC CEO said the safety of both employees and customers remains the organization’s top priority.

The incident has renewed attention on the importance of protecting transit workers from violence while they carry out their duties.

The assault on a TTC operator at Wilson Station has left the employee recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. With a suspect arrested and charged, Toronto police continue investigating the incident.
